Blenkhorn Captures Win at
15th Annual Atlantic Cat 250

(Halifax, NS, August 9, 2014) –Dylan Blenkhorn of Truro, Nova Scotia captured the biggest win of his career Saturday night when he piloted his #67 Blenkhorn’s Auto Recyclers Chevrolet to victory in the 15th Annual Atlantic Cat 250 at Scotia Speedworld. Blenkhorn took the lead on Lap 141 and held the top spot for the final nine laps of the event, holding off Ben Rowe (Turner, ME) on a three lap dash to the checkers. Rowe held on for second, over reigning series champion John Flemming of Halifax, NS. Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) rallied in the second half to finish fourth with Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) completing the top five.

After leading a race high 131 laps in the Atlantic Cat 250 Blenkhorn not only earned the Linde Most Laps Led Award, but collected more than $13,000 for his victory in the biggest stock car racing event in Halifax.

Blenkhorn, who collected his third win of the season on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, started from the pole position after Craig Slaunwhite accepted the Atlantic Tiltload Pole Challenge. Slaunwhite was in contention for a top five finish before he and Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) tangled with four laps to go. Slaunwhite, who won the King Freight Dash, finished 11th in the Atlantic Cat 250. Clark took home the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a time of 14.301 seconds. Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races went to Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake) and Dean Clattenburg (Mooresville, NC). Proude's fifth place finish earned him the Exide Batteries Hard Charger Award after gaining eleven positions from the beginning of the race.

Prior to the race, a small ceremony was held to officially retire the No. 00 of Scott Fraser and the No. 12 of Scott Kelly from Maritime Pro Stock Tour competition.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour returns next weekend for the special Friday night make up race at Riverside International Speedway. The Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 150 will go green at 7pm. Tickets on sale now at www.riversidepeedway.ca.
