Wayne Smith First to Register for 06 CARQUEST Tour
HALIFAX, NS (March 7, 2006) - Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) is the first driver to register for the 2006 CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour.
Smith, known as the Oval Outlaw to his posse of fans, is back for the 2006 Tour. "Having the first registration form arrive from Wayne Smith is no surprise" said Ken Cunning, General Manager of the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour. "I believe he was first last year as well. He is organized and methodical in his approach to racing."
Driving his familiar number 44 Chevy Monte Carlo, Smith will try to finish one spot better than his second place finish in the 2005 points standings. "We're looking to have a good year" said Smith. "But we'll have to be on top of our game to be successful". In 2005, Smith won the Pro Line 100 at Scotia Speedworld on May 22/05 and had 10 top 10 finishes, while chasing Pictou's Rollie MacDonald in the points standings. A long time Pro Stock racer, Smith looks to add the 2006 championship, to the championship he won in 2001.
Long time sponsors Emergis, Color Your World - Clayton Park and Julien Construction are back lending support to Smith for the 2006 campaign.
